Fensport GR Yaris - 2022
2022 soon looms up on us and we have been so busy with work but we did manage some winter time to get on our GR Yaris!
Engine: After the valve bending fiasco last year we were never really happy with the engines performance and early January we decided to strip it down and investigate.
We found the problem! The intake camshaft lobes on no3 cylinder had moved on the shaft, this changed the valve timing and caused a loss of compression on that cylinder. The fix was easy as we have now installed the Kelford Camshafts, these shafts are machined from billet tool steel so the problem will never come back and they work in perfect harmony with the uprated Kelford valve springs.

The car has been remapped with the new cams and now pulls strong to the redline and has much higher demand for fuel, definitely a good sign! Yes we'll find time to get to the dyno soon :)
Gearbox: Last year we had a problem with gearshifts at high rpm, so whilst the engine was out this was also investigated. It turned out the new Helix single mass flywheel and paddle clutch with uprated cover assembly needed an extra 0.5mm clearance for fast shifts. This has now been engineered in to all the kits we sell.
Aero: Aero: Aero! .... well you can't get enough can you?

We started with what is becoming our own signature design of front splitter, by using aluminium honeycomb sheet mounted to the chassis and then a marine ply wearable underside and a carbon top side. The splitter is also mounted on 4 stainless wire ropes which allow upwards movement but not downwards.

To balance the front, we have added a dual element rear wing from a Mosler GT car, its mounted rigidly using alloy support bars to transfer the downforce in to the cars body.

Suspension: 2022 see new BC Racing External Reservoir coilovers with custom valving and 8kg springs all round. The BC's allow seperate bump and rebound settings which will help tame the Yaris rear under braking. Also fitted a Whiteline adjustable rear anti roll bar.
